American Roulette is played on a smaller table than the French Roulette table. A maximum of 8 guests can play simultaneously. This means that the players have more space to manoeuvre and can always place their own bets. As the players do not need the croupier's assistance to place their bets, the game can move at a brisk pace. American Roulette is played with coloured chips which do not represent a specific value.
They come in 8 different colours, depending on the number of players. Every player select his own colour. What's more, he also determines the value of that colour, naturally within the limits of the tables' set minimum and maximum bets. You always buy the colour chips from the croupier at the table, not at the chips bank. You tell the croupier the value that you want your chips to represent. The croupier places a coin indicating your value in a clearly visible place next to a chip of your colour on a board above the roulette table. This prevents misunderstandings from arising on that score. Here too, it is common practice to pay for the colour chips at the table. Because everyone is playing with his own colour, there is never any doubt as to who has bet what. So you can safely place your chips on top of those of another colour.
After the croupier announces "no more bets", the game is closed and there are no more bets allowed. The minimum and the maximum of the table is clearly visible, which can be also changed during the game. Higher or lower bets are not allowed. The players have to follow the game and be present at the pay out.
