Games / Midi Punto Banco

Midi Punto Banco is a game usually played in classic casinos. It is a calm game which nevertheless offers the players a number of gambling pleasures. Players may place their bets on two possible outcomes - either on Punto or on Banco - or they can opt to bet on the tie, or Egalité.

Table

The playing table has seven seats, each of them having its own betting box. Areas for betting on Punto, Banco or Tie are indicated.
The maximum and minimum bets are indicated on the playing table and may be altered by the casino management at anytime, also in the course of the play. Bets under or above the indicated limit values are not allowed. Partnership aimed at exceeding the maximum bet is not allowed.
When Punto wins, all bets on Banco and Egalité are lost. When Banco wins, the bets on Punto and Egalité are lost. The hand with the highest count (maximum 9) wins. The payoff is even money, 1:1.

Bets placed on Egalité win when Punto and Banco are even, and are paid at 8:1. The maximum bet on Egalité is 8-times less than the allowed maximum at the table. In case of a tie between Punto and Banco, the play for the bets in other betting boxes is considered null and the players may chose whether they wish to play again..

Cards value

Playing cards value: aces are worth 1, face cards have no value, other cards are counted at face value. A total of 10 is counted as 0.

Game

Midi Punto Banco is played with six 52 card decks shuffled by the dealer. The cards are cut by the players seated at the playing table from the left to the right, whereby at least the size of a deck must be cut off. The croupier inserts the cut card at least seven cards from the end. The cards are then put into the shoe.

The play: the croupier draws 4 cards from the shoe. The first and the third cards go to the player with the highest bet in the Punto area; in case of two or more equal bets, these cards go to the player at a lower playing position. The second and fourth cards go to the Banco.

Rules

The play continues according to the following rules:

  • If either hand has a total of 8 or 9 on the first two cards, it is called a "natural" and no further cards are drawn - this hand wins. If one hand totals 8 and the other 9, the highest count wins.
  • If the first two cards do not total 8 or 9, the play continues as follows.

Rules for PUNTO:

  • if the total is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, a third card is drawn
  • if the total is 5, 6 or 7, no further card is drawn

Rules for BANCO:

Midi punto banco

A 5% commission is charged by the casino on all BANCO winnings. When the play is announced closed and the first card has been drawn, no further bets or changes are allowed.

In case of dealing mistakes, a reconstruction is made in accordance with the rules. The card seen in reconstruction is discarded.

If reasonable doubt is raised about the correctness of dealing and the cards are still face down, players are offered the possibility to change their bets. In case of continuing mistakes made by the player, such player is no longer allowed to see the cards.

When the red cut card is drawn, the last shoe is announced. If the cut card is drawn as the first card of the hand, the hand is valid if such card is followed by at least seven playing cards.

In cases of disputes and irregularities, the decision by the casino inspector is deemed decisive.
