The game is played with six 52-card decks and those cards do not have numbers on them.
Value of the cards: The figures are worth ten points each, the ace one point, each of the others their own value. The game begins when the cards are shuffled by the dealer and cut by one of the players. The Bets: The game has four combinations: BLACK (Noire), RED (Rouge), COLOUR (Couleur), and CONTRARY (Inverse)
The Dealer (Tailleur) in charge lays out the cards, one after another in two rows: the first row decides the Blake score, the second the Red. The total of points in each row must be within 30 and 40, but they must be over 30 and not more than 40. The winning row is the one with the lesser score it means which is nearest 30.
- When the red wins and the first face up card is red the dealer says "Rouge gagne, la couleur perd."
- When the red wins and the first face up card is black, the dealer says "Rouge gagne, la couleur perd."
- When the red looses and the first face up card is red, the dealer says "Rouge perd et couleur."
- When the red looses and the first face up card is black, the dealer says "Rouge perd, la couleur gagne."
The dealer collects the loosing bets and pays off the winning ones at 1:1
When the total of both rows is equal the hand is indecisive and will be replayed. When the total is 31 in both rows, the stakes are retained for one hand (the player looses half of his bet). They will be free according to the following hand is favourable or otherwise. The player can be insured against this imprisonment of the stake jolting at an additional payment of the 1 % insurance of his stake. If the value of both of the rows is 31 the insurance is lost, but the stake remains for next hand. In case of loosing the stake, the insurance is automatically lost.
The players can claim half of the retained bet. The bets have to be money covered. After the announcement "no more bets" , additional bets are no longer accepted. The inspector solves all disagreements and his decision is final.
